2017 is “Year of the Rooster”
2017 is Year of the Rooster with Chinese New Year on 28th January. Grafton Street lights up with the annual Chinese New Year Festival street parade which includes a lion dance, market stalls and food.
This year’s Cairns Chinese New Year Street Festival will be held in Grafton Street, Cairns’ historic Chinatown. The program includes:
- street parade (commences at 6pm)
- colourful Lion and Dragon performances
- Chinese drumming
- interactive art and cultural displays
- Chinese food
- a huge variety of market stalls and street food
- fireworks and firecrackers (at 9pm)
- live entertainment and prize draws at The Good Guys Main Stage and Star 102.7 Stage
